Parks and Recreation currently ranks as my third highest comedy in total rating at 11.63. Only The Simpsons (13.39) and The Office (NBC) (12.93) rank higher. Other comedies close behind Parks and Rec are South Park (11.53), Modern Family (11.19) and Futurama (11.13).
The average episode score for Parks and Rec (9.05) is topped only by The Office (BBC) (9.86), Silicon Valley (9.25) and Arrested Development (9.24).
The series finale aired earlier this week, but this is where I am in the final season. I’ve tried my best to avoid spoilers to this point. So far so good (knock on wood).
This episode was a clear 10, and it could even be a candidate for my favorite from all seven seasons. Leslie and Ron are the two strongest characters on the show. When you put them against each other and lock them in a room overnight, that’s a good recipe for a strong episode. This story results in some of best emotional moments of the series, plus it gives some of the biggest laughs.
Parks and Rec will definitely go down as one of my favorite all-time comedies. Ron Swanson sticks out as one of the most memorable comedic characters of all time, and there really isn’t an uninteresting character on the show. I’m looking forward to seeing how the writers wrap up the story, but I’m not looking forward to the show coming to an end.
